Western Fuels is a not-for profit fuel supply cooperative. We proudly supply coal and transportation services to consumer-owned electric utilities throughout the Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, Southwest regions, and beyond. Serving a wide variety of public power entities ranging from rural electric generation and transmission cooperatives to municipal utilities, WFA offers its members diverse and extensive expertise in coal mining, fuel procurement, and transportation management. Working together, we are endeavoring to build a more reliable, secure power grid – from providing low-cost member services to advocating for our members and the coal industry.
WFA couples decades of experience with the power of large-scale, aggregate negotiations to deliver a complete fuel and transportation package — at the lowest possible cost.
Members benefit through the capitalization of a complete fuels management array, railcar fleet services, and fleet repair logistics. WFA currently owns and leases more than 3,000 railcars, mitigating the need for members to lease or use railroad owned sets.
Western Fuels remains proud and resolute in its national advocacy initiative at both the state and federal levels. Sitting on the board of numerous organizations focused on the need to provide unwavering grid reliability and affordable electricity to all, WFA stands ready to protect its members and the communities they serve.
